Solution

1. Log-in to the customer control panel of your web space.

2. Click on the „Websites and Domains“ tab (normally set by default).

3. Click on the „Add subdomain“ menu link.

4. Enter the name of the subdomain. The name is not the fully qualified domain, but the subdomain name only.

Wrong: [subdomain].[domain].[tld]
Right: [subdomain]

You can create as many subdomains for each main domain as you like. If you have more than one main domain in your customer account, pick the parent domain. Simply enter the main domain name into the input line and select the domain from the search result.

5. Set the document root directory. This is the directory where the website of the subdomain shall be stored. Normally that directory is /[subdomain].[domain].[tld] and will be offered by default. You can also use subdomains as redirects. First create a subdomain as described here, then change the usage type of the subdomain with the “hosting settings” link.

6. Click the „OK“ button.
